Overview

As a Steampunk Business Analyst/Scrum Master, you will facilitate Scrum practices for an Agile software development team and help gather, analyze, and document user requirements. You will provide expertise in Agile best practices, business process and system analysis, and translating business needs into clear technical requirements.

 

Contributions

  • Support the Lead Scrum Master in ensuring the effective execution of Agile practices, including assisting with the facilitation of core Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Envision, develop, and define requirements to improve tools and streamline processes, driving efficiencies and improving key metrics
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and product teams to decompose large epics into features and user stories that can be understood, refined, and approved by development teams
  • Partner with Product Owners to support backlog refinement, prioritization, and delivery planning
  • Apply facilitation techniques to lead workshops, working sessions, and discussions that drive shared understanding and alignment
  • Use excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and present findings and recommendations
  • Foster team development, accountability, and self-organization while supporting a culture of trust and collaboration
  • Support teams in delivering value consistently by promoting focus, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Identify, track, and help resolve impediments and risks, escalating issues as appropriate to ensure timely resolution
  • Support effective stakeholder communication by providing visibility into team progress, risks, and delivery outcomes
  • Help teams manage time effectively, minimize distractions, and maintain focus on committed work
  • Leverage organizational resources and best practices to improve team capacity and delivery effectiveness
  • Contribute to the creation of team-level roadmaps and delivery plans in collaboration with Product Owners and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4+ years of experience working in Agile environments, including serving as a Scrum Master and/or Business Analyst using Scrum and/or Kanban methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience in the elicitation, documentation, and validation of business requirements, including user stories, functional and non-functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, quality assurance, UX, and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements
  • Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients, build consensus, and achieve goals through influence
  • Flexibility to work with teams, individuals, and executives and willingness to help with a wide variety of work products and people
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience working in a studio or human-centered design approach
  • Certified Scrum Master and/or SAFe certifications a plus

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
