As an Associate Business Analyst, you will support the collection, capture, and management of mission user needs, from prioritization and concept development to feature writing and deployment. You will assist in business process analysis, system design and improvement, and translating business needs into technical requirements. You will also provide support for change management, training efforts, and strategic planning across various technical and functional environments. 

You’ll contribute across multiple disciplines, including Configuration Management, Strategic Planning, Knowledge Management, Business Analysis, and Technical Analysis. 

• Collaborate with teams to develop and document requirements that improve tools, streamline processes, and enhance key performance metrics. 

• Identify and help mitigate risks during planning and execution phases of projects. 

• Support Agile project delivery by working with stakeholders and customers to plan and deliver technical solutions. 

• Facilitate meetings and workshops to promote shared understanding and develop clear product and portfolio roadmaps. 

• Assist in breaking down large epics into actionable features and user stories that are clearly understood by development teams. 

• Lead and participate in Increment Planning sessions to ensure work is well-defined, scoped, and aligned with business goals. 

• Support the use of JIRA for tracking work across multiple teams, including guidance on effective reporting and visualization of progress. 

• Promote Agile best practices by coaching teams on delivery processes, client values, and agile mindset. 

• Monitor project progress and support scope definition, schedule planning, risk management, and issue resolution. 

• Oversee or support Scrum teams for high-priority client projects as needed. 

• Write clear and testable Acceptance Criteria in collaboration with technical teams and business stakeholders. 

• Use strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and deliver actionable insights. 

• Support the professional development of team members when in a leadership capacity. 

Required: 

• Bachelor's Degree 
• 0-3 years of related experience

• Experience with Agile methodologies 

• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills 

• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff 

• Understanding of user story creation, dependency mapping, and solution design 

• Excellent oral and written communication skills 

• Must hold a current NIH Public Trust clearance 

Preferred: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification 

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $50,000 to $80,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
