Overview

Steampunk is hiring an Accounts Payable Manager to work in our headquarters office in McLean Virginia.  The position will be responsible for managing the accounts payable team and leading and overseeing the full accounts payable process, ensuring compliance to Federal Government contract regulations and internal policies, managing vendor relationships, preparation of 1099’s, and budget analysis and preparation. This is a full-time position with working hours between 8:30am to 5:30pm.  This position will report to the Assistant Controller.  Excellent opportunity to grow within the Accounting and Finance Department!

Contributions

  • Lead and oversee the accounts payable process including invoice intake, coding, approval workflows, payment runs and vendor reconciliations
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance by reviewing invoices for proper coding, authorization, and adherence to company policies, internal controls, and Federal Government Contracting regulations
  • Manage employee expense report reimbursement cycle, including review for proper coding and meeting payment deadlines
  • Ensure timely processing of AP vouchers for month-end and year-end close
  • Manage cash outflows by coordinating weekly and monthly payment cycles
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships, responding to inquiries and resolving payment issues quickly to support business continuity
  • Review monthly credit card reconciliations for coding
  • Post invoices for payment
  • Manage year end 1099 preparation and filing
  • Contribute to budget preparation and monthly analysis of actual costs to budget
  • Present budget and expense information to senior management. 
  • Manage accounts payable team including conducting performance reviews, mentoring and promoting a positive team environment
  • Make recommendations for process improvement
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Onsite 5 days a week in McLean, VA
  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7 years of accounts payable experience in the government contracting environment
  • Previous management experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral are a must. 
  • Knowledge of government contract regulations, including FAR, DCAA and other relevant compliance requirements
  • Preferred hands-on experience and working knowledge of Deltek Time and Expense and Deltek CostPoint
  • Must possess highly effective organization and time management skills, and strong decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Detailed orientated and able to produce quality work without errors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Products to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with an emphasis on Excel skills. 
  • Capable of working in fast-paced environment
  • The ability to work flexible/extended hours

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $115,000 to $130,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
