Overview

Steampunk is seeking a Lead Test Engineer who will provide testing and QA expertise in mission critical work across our client base.

 

Contributions

As a Test Engineering Lead, you will deliver quality assurance services to support application, cloud, and data systems development. Responsibilities include: 

  • Responsible for leading the overall testing effort and deliverables, work with testing team to ensure that testing is on time and of the highest quality. 
  • Test planning activities and estimation, test scope definition with the use of risk-based testing. 
  • Implement governance and reporting processes. 
  • Implement standard processes, methodologies and tools. 
  • Ensure that the team follows the testing standards, guidelines, and testing methodology as specified in the test strategy. 
  • Perform all test management activities; resource management, monitor and control, risks and issues management. 
  • Manage test environment, test data preparation, test tools and test automation implementation. 
  • Work with the application and technical architecture teams to plan various test phases. 
  • Review test to ensure that they meet the entry and exit criteria. 
  • Define and facilitate formal sign-off process and procedures for testing deliverables. 
  • Primary contact and escalation point for testing. 
  • Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members.
  • Present regular status updates and provide cross training to other DevOps team members.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree or above in business computer, Information Technology, Computer Science or any related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience with quality assurance and test automation practices in an Agile work environment.
  • Experience in Software Testing (Manual and/or Automated), System Test, Integration Test, and User Acceptance Test.
  • Strong analytical and proven ability to quickly understand complex business and systems and provide a suitable solution for clients.

Preferred:

  • Certifications:
    • CAST (Certified Associate in Software Testing)
    • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certification
    • Certified Manager of Software Testing (CMST)
    • DHS Trusted Tester Certification (TTv5)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Experience with documenting an as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations.
  • Experience in designing and developing automated frameworks.
  • Experience in building monitoring systems or improving testing effectiveness.

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $175,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
