Steampunk is seeking a Solution Architect who is creative and is a hands-on expert with delivering innovative technology solutions.

 

Responsibilities will include providing consistency of data design and implementation across projects, accountability for maintainability, performance, and scalability of transactional and business intelligence systems, identifying advantages and disadvantages of using various technologies and how to best integrate within the program, researching, identifying, and analyzing potential operational impact of the design and implementation, and ensure the architectural vision for how the enterprise data is incorporated into the application releases, developing road-maps for re-architecting existing data silos and transforming into accessible information, and perform design and code reviews to ensure customer standards and industry best practices are followed.

As a Solution Architect, you will be leading the technical project tasking and delivery in a government client consulting environment. You will be a client liaison, team coach, and mentor.

You will also:

  • Serve as the Solution Architect for a large software development program using Agile, DevSecOps, and Human-Centered Design to build intuitive, simple systems. 
  • Leverage your experience developing software solutions to architect systems using micro-service development techniques, containers, domain-driven design patterns to design and build complex software systems.
  • Leverage DevSecOps techniques to create resiliency, improve efficiency, reliability, and security of the mission. Support systems architecture development and integration, script development, integrated logistics support, configuration management, systems and mission engineering, and life cycle management. In addition, expertise in Cloud architectural constructs as well as Cloud-specific technologies and services using knowledge of Cloud APIs to establish and maintain Cloud environments is preferred.
  • Work with the Program Manager as the lead technical engineer for the program and engage with multiple functional groups (and other contractors) to comprehend challenges and prototype new ideas.

  • The ideal candidate will have exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills and possess 10+ years of experience as a solutions architect and technical lead. 
  • Strong judgment, negotiation skills, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to establish trust with a variety of stakeholders and customers.
  • Self-managed and self-starter, ability to work independently.
  • A BS or BA Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience with software development, software architecture, APIs, and microservices. 
  • 7+ years of experience with build, deployment, and release automation and orchestration.
  • 7+ years of experience with supporting enterprise Cloud applications or infrastructure.
  • 7+ years of experience with database engineering, and manipulating relational and NoSQL databases.
  • 7+ years of experience with automating tests for determining quality, security, performance, and usability of a system.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code environments, including any activities around automated server or network configurations, large-scale software deployments, and monitoring and testing, such as CI/CD.
  • Experience with multiple back-end languages (e.g. C, C#, Java, Python, Ruby on Rails).
  • Experience writing and evaluating user stories, acceptance criteria, and pull-requests.
  • Experience working in HCD, Agile and DevSecOps environments.
  • Familiarity with automation tools, including Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as OpenShift, EKS, and Docker.
  • Cloud certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps Administrator, Cloud Practitioner) is preferred. 
  • Experience with SAFe Agile development methodologies.
