Steampunk is looking for you to join our DHS team as a Cybersecurity Engineer.  In this role you'll be working with other clients, contractors, and Steampunks to support mission critical systems. You'll be an imbedded team members with a system team and will be responsible for assisting and working with this team to identify cybersecurity threats to the sytem, making recommendations for corrective actions, and implementing solutions to keep mission critical systems safe and secure.


Additional Details of the Role:

  • Conduct analysis on security tools and security systems and seek improvements on a continuous basis
  • Report possible threats or software issues
  • Research weaknesses and find ways to counter them
  • Find cost-effective solutions to cybersecurity problems
  • Understand software, hardware and network needs while adjusting them according to our business environment
  • Develop best practices and security standards
  • Test software, firmware and firewalls
  • Assist team members with cybersecurity, software, hardware or IT needs
  • An understanding of best practices and how to implement them
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills


Must have 5 years of IT experience (inclusive of 1 year of Cybersecurity experience) if you hold a BS or Master’s Degree in an IT field. Or, 7 years of IT experience (inclusive of 3 years of Cybersecurity experience) if you hold a BS in a non-IT field. Or, 9 years of IT experience (inclusive of 5 years of Cybersecurity experience) if you hold no degree.


Additionallly, you'll need to possess the following skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
  • Basic coding skills such as HTML, CSS, or other software development languages
  • Possesses a cybersecurity certification such as CISSP, GSEC, CEH, or CISM
