As a Solution Strategist, you work in the Chief Growth Officer team and will be responsible for supporting account business development teams across the company in defining, positioning, crafting and selling technical solutions to our government clients.  This will include creatively coming up with new capabilities that align to our clients' challenges, authoring associated technical materials, and applying our design thinking processes to generate new organic opportunities.  You will support development of Account Executive and Sector Leadership strategies and account plans, providing subject matter expertise on technical capabilities and their applicability to client challenges.  You will create innovative, practical solutions to satisfy pressing client priorities and help to cultivate new growth opportunities across the company that are aligned with industry and technology vendor innovations.  Specific responsibilities will include:


  • Working with Sector Leadership and Account Managers to craft sales strategies that drive new opportunity pipeline and sales bookings;
  • Working with delivery teams to understand client challenges within current programs to offer new solutions that align to their priorities;
  • Working with the CTO organization to define client-driven capabilities that are differentiated from those of our competitors and that align to high priority needs;
  • Working with the Chief Marketing Officer to create and deliver new campaigns to drive client demand and awareness for Steampunk’s capabilities;
  • Creating technical materials (white papers, presentations, demonstrations, etc) to support sales pipeline growth, client sales calls, and delivery team education;
  • Presenting solutions to clients as part of the business development team to support qualification and closure of new opportunities;
  • Supporting business development teams with initial staffing approaches for solutions, and working with delivery SMEs to provide inputs into more detailed staffing and pricing;
  • Working with legal, contracts, capture, and pricing teams on all facets of the capture management and proposal preparation and submission process;
  • Representing Steampunk within government industry groups, serving as a speaker/presenter at conferences and writing public blogs, articles, and white papers in support of industry events, as applicable


  • Bachelor’s degree in technical, business, or related discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience in federal business or information technology or product technical sales consulting, technology delivery, and/or solution development;
  • Experience supporting sales/business development teams in client facing meetings, presentations, and written responses for government procurements;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills, with proficiency in multiple methods of visual communication and oral delivery
  • Experience in problem solving directly with clients and their stakeholders
  • Experience working in a team, but also being able to prioritize and self-manage
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
