  • Overview

    Steampunk is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineer to take on the challenge of solving some of the most complex problems for our federal client.


    In this role, you’ll be working with a small group of equally experienced Cybersecurity experts and IT engineers to systematically solve, remove, and mitigate security vulnerabilities and issues from a myriad of client systems. Your experience in solving complex and complicated problems will be tested each day as you validate system vulnerabilities and develop courses of action that will be implemented by you and your team.

    Required Experience:

    • Over fifteen (15) years’ experience performing systems engineering or a Master’s Degree 
    • Solving complex problems
    • Teamwork and collaboration skills


     Preferred Experiences: 

    • General awesomness in the IT space
    • Comments by clients and peers of "Wow!  This was a disaster until you figured this out and fixed it for us!"
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or CompTIA Security+ 
    • Experience with secure mobile solutions, such as, but not limited to Microsoft Exchange (Active Sync), Office 365, Mobile Device Management (MDM) such as AirWatch with derived credentials, JAMF Casper 
    • Experience with messaging systems such as Skype for Business, collaboration software such as SharePoint, application-based firewall and proxy server(s), and operating systems. 
    • Experience managing a VPN solution such as Cisco AnyConnect. Experience managing Virtualization solutions such as VMware 6.0+ & Microsoft Hyper-V 
    • Experience with deploying & hardening Windows Server 2012 R2 & 2016 Standard and Data Center 
    • Experience with deploying & hardening Apple OSX, IOS platforms(s) 
    • Experience with cloud service implementations with a focus on AWS and Azure using industry best practices 
    • Experience in implementing cloud automation such as Azure workflow and/or AWS application deployment 
    • Experience deploying and using leading security tools including but not limited to: 
    • McAfee Enterprise Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) 
    • McAfee Endpoint Security   
    • McAfee ePolicyOrchestrator(ePO) 
    • McAfee Data LossPrevention(DLP) 
    • McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention (HIP) 
    • Carbon Black (Cb Response &CB Protect) 
    • NESSUS Security Center 
    • Privileged Identity Management Solutions that Protect On-premises, Cloud and Hybrid IT environments (Xceedium, CyberArk) 
    • Experience deploying and hardening RedHat Linux 6.0+, Experience implementing and managing RedHat Satellite, Experience implementing and managing Veritas NetBackup, Experience implementing and managing Dell Compellent SAN and/or DAS Demonstrable proficiency communicating, verbally and in writing, negotiating, facilitating, and mentoring  
    • Demonstrable proficiency estimating, designing, testing, and documenting infrastructure, engineering, and systems development, operations, and maintenance projects 
    • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) and/or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) and/or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)  
    • Experience troubleshooting and resolving configuration and application issues on Windows workstations  
    • Experience applying patches and scanning stand-alone workstations  
    • Experience upgrading workstations (preferably to Windows 10) and resolving post-upgrade issues 
    • Experience enforcing configuration and security standards (e.g. DISA STIGs, USGCB) 
    • Experience supporting Windows workstations in networked and stand-alone environments 
    • Experience with Active Directory (AD) including the analysis and modification of Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and User and Computer Object administration
